Poetry for Young People: Edward Lear is a collection of poems that was published in October of 2001. It was edited by Edward Mendelson and illustrated by Laura Huliska-Beith. This book is a gathering of rhyming poems written originally by Lear. It includes The Owl and the Pussycat, There was an Old Man..., and The Uncareful Cow. The illustrations in this book go well with Lear's interesting ideas. This poetry book would be great for children ages 9 and up. In the classroom, it would be an excellent mentor text for rhyming poetry or poetry with made-up words. I did not find anything problematic. I did find the definitions at the bottom of each poem and an in-depth biography at the beginning very useful. <rhyming> <poetry> <Edward Lear>
