The Grimm Conclusion by Adam Gidwitz

Not quite the note I was hoping this series would end on. Gidwitz seemed like he was tired of writing about fairy tales and just sort of did what he had to do to finish out the story. Was not a fan of the characters finding their way into the real world to "learn their lesson." Very eh for me.

This was a great conclusion to the series, and a super fun read. Once again, I love how Adam Gidwitz mishes up all these fairy tales and puts them back together in a compelling storyline. There were moments when I laughed, moments when I almost cried, and moments when I thumped my head against my desk because the characters were missing the point, as children in fairy tales are wont to do. I also really liked how he tied all three books together in the end. At first it was weird, but actually it worked really well. I would definitely recommend this whole series to anyone interested in retold fairy tales.

This one was filled with lessons. Beautiful ones. Also jokes. Hilarious, laugh out loud ones. Full review to follow.

The last book of the trilogy definitely ended the way I wanted it to end. I found it hilarious that Jorinda Joringel met the author and he told them stories of his past books A Tale Dark and Grimm and In A Glass Grimmly. It was a bit slow in the middle but the ending made up for it.

I'll miss this series with all my heart.

Other than breaking the fourth wall -which wasn't that bad- I have absolutely no problems with this book. The main characters are lovely, human-like more than their previous, and fairly smart. Don't get me wrong, I loved Hansel and Gretel and Jack and Jill, but none of them was a tyrant or a law enforcer.

This was so lovely and filled with non-depressed vibes, I felt something break in me when the book ended.

I'm now alone again without my lovely children's book.

This book was nice and it tied up the series pretty neatly. I'm just not sure that I'm thrilled with the big deus ex machina and the weird narration stuff going on here. Something about this just didn't agree with me personally. I just wanted more grim fairy tales, and we lost track of those fairly quickly in this volume. Others may feed differently.

This was my second time listening to this book. It was wonderful the first time and it's wonderful the second as well. It's a great trilogy.
