As a friend said, finding a new author to binge is one of life’s most unsung pleasures. Another is having a quiet Sunday afternoon with nothing to do but read. I am loving my Liane Moriarty kick, and What Alice Forgot was no exception and might be my favourite so far. I loved the characters, I loved the fast-paced prose, I loved the relationships built and destroyed in various timelines throughout the book. This author has a real gift for writing complex and empathetic female characters, and knows just what tropes to employ to make her books comforting while still not too formulaic.

Really enjoyed this one! It was such a fun read and with a really satisfying ending. But again, my girl Liane seems to have an issue adding in unnecessary storylines — Frannie’s letters were cute but didn’t really add anything to the book until the very end. But it’s a really good reminder to hold onto the hopeful innocence of your youth and not to forget where you came from, which I really needed at this point in time as I become a Career Bitch
