What Alice Forgot

Liane Moriarty

3.95 AVERAGE

I loved everything about this book! I always enjoy Moriarty's books, but this one was my favorite so far. I don't even fully know how to describe it, but I loved the characters even with all their flaws. I was rooting so hard for Nick & Alice. I loved how it got me thinking about my own life -- what would 27 year old me think if I woke up one morning and thought I was her when really I was 37 year old me!? What parts of my current life or personality would be surprisingly or upsetting? And I love any story where characters get the gift of clarity and a second chance. Moriarty did a great job of weaving the lives and thoughts of "young Alice" and "old Alice" and I found the ending really satisfying. Was happy with how things wrapped up, but I didn't feel ready for it to end. I want to luxuriate in this sweet book for a little longer!

Another fantastic book ~ really enjoyed it :O)

Points off for the pop-style, non-gorgeous writing, but a fascinating thought experiment. 4 ½ stars

DID NOT FINISH: 16%

It was boring for me. I wasn’t able to care about the characters.

B book. Interesting concept, but I felt like it only explored some parts - very much just "oh i'm such a cold bitch now" and not a lot of introspection about what made her the way she is and if its bad, just because it's different. Really pissed me off how its kind of implied her bitchiness caused the divorce. No character development from Nick. In general, Moriarty's women /worldview are a little shallow, conservative, not my vibe. Also, I would have liked to see more from Gina. I don't have any feelings about her
