This was a fun retelling/reimagining of Anne of Green Gables! I recently read Anne for the first time and felt so so about the classic story. I enjoyed this one much more, to be honest (don't throw stones at me!). In this one, Anne is Grace and a witch. There are several recognizable plot points from Green Gables, but the book definitely makes the story it's own world. It's also a clean read and would be good for a read aloud for kids who aren't sensitive.

Absolutely adored this book! Grace definitely embraces her inner Anne of Green Gables and it was nostalgic in a wonderful way. Beautifully written and overall it was such fun to read.

I listened to this book in audiobook form.
So this book was nice and pleasant. A sweet little fantasy story about a girl practicing witchcraft. I felt that the characters were well written too but maybe the worldbuilding was a little weak. But overall good book.

As soon as I heard Heather Fawcett (wonderful local BC author) was coming out with a fantasy retelling of my favourite Canadian classic “Anne of Green Gables” , I knew I had to have it. First of all Fawcett is an amazing writer and I would auto buy anything she writes. “The Grace of Wild Things” is heartfelt and beautiful and pays such a dear tribute to the source material you know LM Montgomery would smile while reading it. Fawcett made some adjustment to the original (love that she made the Diana character more sassy and strong willed) but you could just feel the author’s deep love for the book. You could tell which character was which just by Fawcett’s lyrical writing alone. It is heartwarming and beautifully written with thought and care to the original Other than the Megan Follows movie, this is my favourite adaptation.
