What did I just read? I was completely unable to follow this novel, most likely for a few reasons:
1. It was the 4th book in a series, and I was unfamiliar with the story elements. (However, there are many books in different series that one could read out of order; as I have done many times, and I have been able to follow along much better than this novel.)
2. The timelines shifted from past, to present, to I'm-not-even-sure-it-was-reality.
3. Ceci writes in a way that is very minimalistic and assuming. I feel like he assumed I knew everything that was going on, but I simply didn't.

I also think the graphic sexual scenes at the beginning of the novel were not only completely unnecessary but also way too smutty for the age level of the intended audience.
