This is my second of Solnit's essay collections (and the first I've successfully finished), and I still am not sure how I feel overall. This collection speaks so clearly from our political atmosphere in 2017/18 that it feels almost historical, yet we're still considering the same topics and questions today. And while what she's writing about is important (especially centering marginalized voice within her essays), something about her tone bothers me. She's at her strongest when discussing individuals, journalism and her hope for the future of our country, but the text in between that felt redundant at times.
Graphic: Violence, Police brutality, Racism, Sexism, and Death
