Listened on audible in French. Not the best. Horror/mystery. Kind of silly. But decent enough.

This isn't my typical genre, but it was free and the premise called to me. Once I began listening to the prose and becoming immersed, I had to keep going!

Nate is definitely intense, the trauma of his past clearly affecting his choices. He is a rule-breaker who does not play nice with others. I don't typically read thrillers/mysteries, so this might be part of the genre, but while I did understand his motivations and why he was the way he was, his aggression made it hard to sympathize with him. Still, his actions made for some intense moments.

The Bone Man is terrifying, brought to life through sensory prose. I liked the mystery of the creature and the uncertainty of what exactly he was. Much of the plot relied on Nate's gift and his past with the creature haunting him, so whenever the mystery slowed down, we had a chance to dive into Nate's character.

The book was dramatic right until the very end, which I think could have been a bit longer to offer more closure. Still, it's a perfect book to listen to over a weekend! Spooky, interesting, and dramatic, this is a good book for fans of true crime and the paranormal. Though it doesn't try to reinvent the genre and is definitely packed with tropes, I did enjoy the writing style and the supernatural aspects.

I loved this listen! You combine Joshua Jackson with a thriller and I am here for it! Perfect read for the start of fall. Great find!
