I was expecting alot more but honestly pretty let down. The first book should’ve been shortened and added this part.

Honestly felt like this book was going in circles. For what the author was going for it almost felt like there was too much detail that it all was a bit repetitive. Could probably finish it but I kept getting too annoyed and it would take me awhile so I bailed out.

DNF at 50%. This book is a duet that's even worse than the first book. I really need to stop reading books suggested through Booktok. They are always a disappointment. This book contains characters that are childish while in their 30's and can't have a decent scene without feeling horny and talking about sex. Jay was slightly more insane than I could take, and I've read Haunting Adeline, so that says a lot. He's always scheming and plotting something, even if he's doing it in the name of LOVE. And the NICKNAME!! I can't express the visceral reaction I get every time he calls her Kitten. There's no sense of personal space and boundary. There's no real groveling on his part.
Cat is also unbearable. She is suppose to have grown up and learn of her mistake and matured but nope! Immature as ever and hornier than before. This woman is suppose to despise Jay for abandoning her for 13 YEARS but just a couple times after seeing Jay in person she's sleeping with him. I guess she just threw her logic and integrity out the window when there's Jay's d*ck in the mention.
Here's are some things that I wish were different in the book:
1. The characters were more flushed out and mature for their age. This also includes the brothers. What the hell is the point of them in the book. I can't tell them apart because they don't have anything unique about them. I don't care about them at all.
2. The character should have other goal and ambitions in their life. Yes, Cat wanted to become the Chief editor but that plot is really only a device to have the characters bang it out in a sex club.
3. The year gap should be way shorter. Maybe 5-7 years. Not 13 YEARS! It's ridiculous.
4. Better side characters. Sophie was unbearable as well. And Cat's brothers were either stupid or irrelevant.
5. Get rid of the damn nickname!
6. Have the characters see a fucking therapist. With the shit they've been through, they need to seek professional help before being in a relationship or raising a child. This is something that could've been addressed in the year gap.
7. Have Cat have some sympathy and emotion other than jealousy and horniness. She has a grandfather that she adored but not once in the 50% did she go to visit him while in the coma. So much for loving her family.
8. Better sibling connections. I get that she isn't that close with Carter or Chase but goddamn it, she has no care for them. Not once does she ask how they are feeling with shit that went down in the middle of the book. (she might ask later in the book but I'm not gonna read it.. she should've been involved sooner)
9. Cat should've kept Chloe instead of giving her up to Cynthia but still being in contact with her. She can't make up her damn mind I swear.
10. And overall. the story should be more slow burn and angsty, not horny and desperate.
