Whew! When the list of disclaimers at the beginning are really horrifying and shocking, believe it! The bloody scenes were far bloodier than any crime book I’ve ever read, some characters pulled right out of reality-inspired pop culture with added twists, and the spicy was super spicy, but also raised red flags, which apparently is normal for these characters.  Which are red flags themselves. 🤣

This journey is QUITE the ride. And still, I’m looking forward to Leather & Lark.

This is wildly different from any other romance book I have ever read. You almost get whiplash from switching between sickly sweet and nauseatingly disgusting within the same scene. Despite that, it still manages to follow along with typical romance tropes and still be funny. The storyline has a limited plot, typical of any romance, and very explicit spicy scenes.

I enjoyed the book for what it was, but can't say I would recommend it to (most) others.
I also was not a fan of the twist. It came out of nowhere randomly to cause drama because the relationship itself had no conflict.
Because of all that, I rate it a 3.

If you can't watch gore in your TV and movies, this book will not be a good fit for you. Read the content warnings and proceed with caution. The book spells those out clearly at the very beginning.

I adored this, absolutely devoured the story. Two serial killers who kill other serial killers have a chance encounter, make a "game" out of their "hobby" and fall in love.

Oh. Em. Gee!! What a ride! I love the mix of serial killer, murder, love and angst. Rowan is too horny all them time, to be honest, but his protective nature is just great. I feel like more background on each of the character would've been great, like more on how they find and choose their next kill (though I know Lachlan chooses their game pray). I think this would have helped us understand them more in terms of their relationship with killing, trauma and death. We get snippets here and there, and it may be cause Brynne Weaver wanted the romance to be more of the forefront, I don't know. Since the next book focuses on related characters, I hope we get more of Sloane and Lark's story and The Cane brothers' story.

Love the intricate ways that each kill are not the same but there is meaning how they are killed and displayed.
