This series has kept me interested from the start. Always keeps moving at a clip so reader isn't bored. There are twists and turns, and this one had me cheering at the end. Can't wait to read the next one.

A page turner you won't be able to put down!
Insane! One of the beat ones to date! Brenda Novak definitely has a talent for creating characters and world's that suck you in and hold you captive! I did not even put it down while I was making dinner! Intense! Nail biting! The things Evelyn goes through and the amount of situations she gets herself into would be laughable if they were anyone else. But for someone who has such notoriety, it's merely another day at work for her. Except this time the man that started it all seems to be closer than she ever thought possible. And she may have to give up the only good thing that she has ever had in her life. You do not want to miss this installment.

I read the first three books in this series within just a couple weeks. The characters are well developed and grow with each installment. The backstory of the psychopathy is both fascinating and horrifying. If you enjoy mysteries that keep you on the edge of your seat, turning the pages, read this series! I can hardly wait for book 4!

I had to stop reading this book because it was so one-dimensional. It seemed that the novel was nothing more than a vehicle to deliver scenes of sexual violence for the titillation of readers. I love a well-written thriller and am all for finely crafted gore, but this isn't that.

description

Brenda Novak has done such a phenomenal job with this series. I have been on the edge of my seat the entire ride. This book, like the previous ones, has been very unpredictable and full of twists. I love Thrillers and Romantic Suspense novels, and Brenda Novak is definitely an amazing author who can write really gritty and dark stories. She is no rookie in this genre, and I am not one either as a reader. I have read a lot of thrillers, so my expectations are pretty high. And Brenda has met every one of them. The villains were really evil, and I was intrigued by them just like Evelyn. I am pretty interested in how the minds of serial killers work, so I love reading about them in both fiction and non-fiction books. So any Thriller/Romantic Suspense book about serial killers will catch my attention. I just can't get enough of this series and awesome characters. I feel such a strong connection to Evelyn and Amarok , and I just loved seeing how much they have grown throughout this series.

Face Off was another perfect addition to this series, and I wouldn't change one thing about this book. I thought for sure that Face Off was the last book in The Evelyn Talbot Chronicles. But imagine my surprise when I got to the end and saw an excerpt from the next book. Why did I think that this would be the last book? Because the whole series has been a build-up to this book. Evelyn will finally come face to face with the person who tortured and left her for death. How do I feel about this book not being the end? I don't know yet, it will depend on which direction the author will take this series in the upcoming books.

This book was outstanding! Everything about it was perfect - the writing, the tone, the characters, the storyline, the plot, the suspense, the love. Of all of Brenda Novak’s books, this one was my favorite by far! I’m not even a huge fan of murder mystery but I got hooked on this series with Her Darkest Nightmare, and was eager to read more about Evelyn, Jasper and Amarok with this third book in the series. I think this is better than Silence of the Lambs and hope to see a movie made!

This has in no way influenced my voluntary review, which is honest and unbiased *Face Off was a good story, but I have to admit I’m starting to think Evelyn will never ever find any peace. And it took quite a bit of suspension of disbelief to get that she could go through so much and still be sane.

Review - (un)Conventional Bookviews

I really enjoy Evelyn and her thoughts on what makes a psychopath a dangerous person. However, in Face Off, I just started to feel a bit tired because Evelyn can never catch a break! She never had a moment of peace, between her one-time boyfriend from her youth, and Amarok's ex who was trying to get to Amarok any way she could.

The overall story in Face Off was very exciting, especially because I as the reader knew who was after Evelyn now. And we got glimpses into his thoughts and how he was planning to recapture her. Face Off really did make it so he had to show his face in the end - and there was a show down in a way. But that also felt a little rushed to me.

The secondary mystery was good, even if the readers knew who was behind the murders, seeing how Amarok worked to find him was very well done. All in all, I enjoy this series, even if Face Off made me want some kind of relief for Evelyn.

Of course, Novak knows how to do romance, and I really enjoyed all the interactions between Evelyn and Amarok, especially as Evelyn trusted both herself and him more and more as time went by.
