GAH! I should’ve DNF’d this book… but no, I’m stubborn. When I tell you that I didn’t care about a *single* character in this book, I’m not exaggerating. It was rushed in every sense. At first, I thought it was quick pacing (which I appreciated) but it ended up being hollow characterization and plot. The whole point of the book is that Ama (idk I really don’t even remember her full name) and Luca are in love and she needs to save him. Nowhere in this book did I get that from them. I’m not going to keep bashing it…but sometimes books like this make me wonder if I should quit YA fantasy.

I didn't watch The Princess bride, so I can't say anything about that.
Plot was flat just like characters I wasn't interested it then at all.
Cover is pretty and writing style was good.

I was really looking forward to this book. I read both Sea Witch and its sequel and really loved it. I loved the world, the characters, the storyline and the writing style. And the concept of this book really spoke to me. So, I placed an extra order and soon got this book. I had to admit that it was quite hard to fit it into my N.E.W.T.'s but eventually I made even that work. So, this morning I started reading, looking forward to an awesome experience.

But that's not what I got. This book does the exact thing I don't like in my book. It gives a female character, in this case a princess, a sword, comes up with loads of fighting scenes to have her show her skills with that sword and then calls her a strong character. Newsflash: Being a strong character has nothing to do with being able to handle a sword. You need a little more than that. In this case: A brain would have been nice.

There was a lot of potential for an interesting plot. We had a princess who had to marry to get her crown and we had three neighboring princes who want her hand. It's a pity that two of those are out of the picture way too soon and that our princess thinks personally, without telling anyone, chasing her stolen boyfriend is more important than her country and people. I understand that it's supposed to be romantic, wanting to give up crown and power for your true love, but it's most of all really irresponsible and stupid.

At least her character is written like that throughout the entire book. Yes, there are a lot of bad ass moments where she fights herself out of impossible situations. But she wouldn't have been in those situations if she had thought about what she was doing first. Most of the time she does something stupid, ends up in a scary situation and then shows some incredible strength freeing herself. O, and of course: She's against killing, because that's a step too far.

If you're one of those people thinking Arya Stark is much more interesting than Sansa Stark you might enjoy this story. If not, I think it's best to skip this book.

I found it to be a quick read, though I was interested in the story, I found it hard to follow. The ending had me on the edge of my seat but I did not understand the last paragraph of the epilogue at all.
