Firstly I would like to say a massive well done to Florence Williams on her debut novel, for her first book this blew me away.

Zoe always had a plan. Well, it was a plan her father created for her, but a plan nonetheless.

She was at university, on track to become a lawyer, and nothing was going to stop her... until she suffers an unforeseen loss, causing her monochrome life of stability, comfort and predictability to turn on its head.

Now, ridden with guilt and grief, Zoe must decide whether to let the demons of her mind pull her under, or whether Ryan—a tantalizing musician who Zoe swears could also be a model—can show her a different path of self-discovery.

This book follows Zoe as she goes through different changes and trials in her life. With hard hitting topics around suicide, eating disorders and mental health challenges this book is thought provoking, emotional and beautifully written.

Absolutely loved this book, I found I could relate quite well to Zoe with being a uni student who feels they don’t quite fit in, and the journey she goes on and the message of the story is so important and inspiring for anyone in her situation, but also just helping people to understand mental health and how it can affect everyone differently, and this was very well written to feel realistic and connect well to the audience.

I really enjoyed the relationships that Zoe builds over the course of the book, particularly with Nadine and the band members as I felt it really helps to put across the point that there’s always someone looking out for you even at your lowest points and think no one is there for you.

Overall I thought this was a great debut for Florence Williams, it’s one I will be reaching for again, and can’t wait to see what Florence brings next!
