I loved this! It’s from way back in 1990, I picked it up secondhand in Richard Booth’s bookshop in Hay. It’s actually the first cycling book I’ve read from a properly female point of view and I enjoyed that and also the sheer can-do optimism evident throughout; it’s really encouraging.
It made me aware too of the history that we lose... there are cycling heroines in here that I don’t know about and some epic rides - a cyclist who completed 40 miles of a 50 mile race in America pedalling standing up because her saddle sheered off (actually a cautionary tale about maintenance, but still - wow)! Tandem champions, racers, riders in the RAAM - makes me want to read all about them.
I will keep this one and look after it. Very useful bike fitting and maintenance section too!
