I couldn’t put this book down once I started and finished it in 2 days. It’s a bit like a thriller without murder and gore. I liked the main character/heroine. I thought I knew what was up for the first 75%, there are some fun twists in the last quarter.
One thing that annoyed me: how often the dad gave the teenage daughter alcohol. Like as a sort of “ooh look I’m treating you like a grown up” or “were bougie like Europeans!” But…alcohol problems are more common in privileged white kids than any other demographic. It’s not cute or charming or bougie to give alcohol to a teen. Idk, that part pissed me off, that it was sprinkled in there a few times without comment.

This book was very boring and uninteresting. The writing itself wasn’t terrible, but the plot and characters were very dull. It wasn’t a hard read, it just took me forever to get through it because nothing kept my attention.

…. Anyways thanks Lil Meggie for letting me borrow this!

I’m kind of pissed off at this book for its ending. But that very same ending also has earned it my respect. This is a well-written, pace-y novel with strong female leads. Despite lacking the happily-ever-after ending I craved, the book’s messages around the selflessness of truly unconditional love are heartwarming. I recommend! Might be extra fun if you live or have lived in Austin, TX.

It was a good book yes. I couldn’t put it down. But the twist wasn’t really like a WOW omg. But still good nonetheless
