I technically started this book back in 2011 & then kind of forgot about it except to meditate on military industrial complex & prison industrial complex which i later learned my reflections were described by the school to prison pipeline. So for as much as this book influenced me, I knew as someone living in the pipeline at that very moment with a hostile & unaccomdating legal system for correcting my documentation. Point being, I would've been triggered heavily, and now I'm at a part in my life where I could read it, understand Foucaultian vocabulary, etc.

It was very good. Definitely the kind of book I'm going to pursue getting a hard copy for myself.

A great look at how queer and trans people are impacted by the prison industrial complex and how queer liberation and prison abolition are intertwined. If you are looking for an introductory book on this I would absolutely recommend this book. If you are at all interested in prison abolition or queer liberation or working in political advocacy related to either subject, I would recommend this book even more.

A beautifully written, heart-wrenching collection of essays.  The writing styles were much more accessible than I anticipated.  The content is upsetting—but it depicts the violent reality that gender-oppressed people, particularly Black, Indigenous, and other gender-oppressed people of color, must combat every day under the prison industrial complex. The anthology also has an excellent list of tools and resources for learning more and taking action.
