I have watched season 3 of the TV show several times, so I knew what would happen. This was still phenomenal. I knew how it was going to end, yet it still gripped me all the way through.

Not reaching the ultimate 10/10 for probably excessively petty reasons: this version of Avasarala took a bit longer to grow on me than the TV counterpart, and Amos&Prax climax was so absolutely sublime in the show that it was difficult to match here.

Still, one of my all time favourite novels and I can't wait to keep going. Struggling to not bulk buy the entire series at the moment, to be honest...

FANTASTIC second book in the series, zero sophomore slump, great new characters and the narration on the audiobook is top notch (impeccable accents, great tone and pacing). What a fucking ending. I got a little irritated with a certain characters repeated apologies and self loathing in the middle section of the book, but overall this was possibly even better than the first book.

*I created an art piece based on the protomolecule from the series. Check it out!
