super fun, funny, cute juvenile fiction. My 3/4 grader loves them.

If anyone told me I'd love a book about a sentient potato salad and hot dogs with teeth, I never would have believed them, but this 3rd installment in the adventures of Danny the Dragon and his Iguna pal Wendell was absolutely adorable and really hilarious.

Another good Ursula Vernon book. In my opinion, none of the Dragonbreath books come close to the wonder of Nurk, but I kinda hold Nurk in higher regard than... well, most things that exist in this genre.

In any case, how could anyone not have fun with the concept of a giant sentient weiner?! The concept alone gets special points for awesome!

There are moments in this one, toward the climax, that just resound awesomeness in my mind... visual and very specific word usages that just make you feel what the characters are feeling. Specifically the way the fire feeling feels in Danny's lungs and throat when he's faced with the giant were-weiner.

I'm interested to see what transpires in the next book affectionately nicknamed "Batbreath".

Apparently I'm getting good at reading aloud. Emi's hooked on this series, but got totally spooked by the climactic battle in the freezer.

ETA 6/20/18 - This is now the second time I've read this to Alex. He still thinks they're totally terrific.

This book was very goofy and it was nice to see the potato salad from the first book make a reappearance.

Lucas assured me that the hot dogs we have at home are not were-wieners.
