Such a peculiar collection of sapphic horror stories, this is like the bible but for lesbians.
The summoning is one of my fave stories ever, it’s such a fun queer horror story, it’s literally super graphic modern girl by Chappell roan but as a story, also Such a pretty face!!!!! Honorary mentions: the Rath, Flowers, and Only corpses stay, are soooo amazing as well.
I didn’t love every single story but I found each one of them intriguing, so was it worth reading? 100%, some of these were life changing and so so so needed in the sapphic community like yes please less awkward coming out stories, and more about summoning hot inter dimensional demons from some kind of hell world !!!
My favourite thing about this book is that while there is a coherent theme, each story is so creative and unique, and I absolutely loved the exploration and use of numerous writing styles. These stories are so nuanced as well, there’s such a depth to them and many underlining subtleties.

Yes yes yes give me more. This is the kind of stuff that gets me going and it’s not even because of the overwhelming gay erotica involved. As soon as I started the first story I was hooked because it felt so Lovecraftian despite having nothing to do with eldritch horror. Many of the stories are just tinged with this beautiful strange, creepy shivering horror vibes, and the ones that aren’t are instead fun as hell.
The only reason I’m not giving it 5 stars is because not every story clicked with me, a few felt a little boring.
Overall a collection of queer literary horror-esque short stories that I’d recommend to everyone.

This was a very mixed collection of short stories for me. Whilst they were some I enjoyed, there were others that were a little too surreal for my tastes.
In particular, I struggled with the writing and imagery in some places and couldn't follow what was supposed to be happening. However, I expect this was mostly a matter of taste / not connecting with the writing style of certain stories (and Fowley does write in a variety of different styles throughout the book).
And there were several stories I really enjoyed including Flowers, Such a Pretty Face, The Summoning and Big Round Ball of Light and Water.
Overall, if you enjoy surrealist horror you could enjoy this, but it was very hit-and-miss for me.

If only I could erase this book from my memory so I could read it and fall in love with it all over again...
