I ABSOLUTELY LOVED THIS BOOK. I loved the whole plot, I absolutely am in love with the ending and all of the answers to every question the books raised in the series. It was beautifully wrapped up in a nice little bow. The writing was AMAZING and I just am so in love with this series it was so good I was nursing this book because I didn't want it to end but then it got so good I couldn't put it down again and I just am taken back by how good this series was and this book. The story was so GOOD. I am also shattered and in love with the last chapter and how it ended it was amazing and lovely and just YES. 10/10 recommend this book and this series omg.

bro this series is actually really really cool the ending was very nice. i will say tho that i think it dragged out a lot throughout the book but that’s besides the point. The point is that i really love Horace and Chloe <3 i wish that there was a bigger ending so we could see what happens in the future but im happy with how it ended. My 13 year old self is very happy. :)

How rare for a series to get an ending that really does it justice. Inevitable, surprising, heartbreaking, and totally satisfying.

"You were never lost with me. Promise me you'll come back."

I think I've sufficiently recovered to finally write this review. But where do I even start?

So much happened this book, in relatively few pages. There are 4 really incredible battle/confrontation scenes, on par with the best of the previous books.
1) We learn just how much Chloe can do with her instrument while seeing her be a badass (once again)
2) How dedicated are Chloe and Horace to each other? Again, let's find out in one of the most dramatic ways possible
3) Oh, you thought Horace was always the planning guy? Think again. There's some incredible teamwork here. Also Joshua redemption arc finally. Also also, I SEE Y'ALL WITH THOSE MOMENTS

I've hidden the rest of this in a spoiler tag just bc it's uh really, really bad and a product of 2018 christine's half dead brain
but also im still insanely salty over Certain Things so whoops :upside_down:

WE NEED ANSWERSSSSSSSSS

Here's a 'review' that's probably a LOT more coherent than what's written down there -sigh- me.
Bullet-pointed because attempts @ organization?? Maybe?? oh well, I tried.
This is an explosive book, whether it looks like that or not. Okay, it's really an exploration of a well-planned, well-structured world full of science and impossibilities that are possible. Approx. 1/3 of this already short book is discussion (omg it's the multiverse 42+ cough) between Horace & Falo & April and anybody who happens to be in the general area - discussion of worlds and possibilities and science and consequences. So yes, not for everybody.
The other 2/3 is action and panic and Chloe being stupidly brave.

* We literally start off on the note that, yes, all the characters are going to die (okay with the exception of Jessica Andrews maybe lol) and it's... an interesting note all right.
* I mean, it's an interesting start all right - the first scene is of Chloe thinking as she literally flies through the air on Dailen's mal'gama along with part of the Altari Council & Gabriel & Mrs. Hapstead on a rescue mission that's going to really test them
* the scene switches to Joshua and Isabel, caught by the Riven and faced with choices and tests, then from (the very painful and revealing scene in) Hell's Pit (Chicago landmark fyi) over to April, alone and thinking in the Mothergate, then to Horace, and so forth through each set of characters in the important locations of the book, each with their own thoughts and problems (was that just an extremely long run-on sentence? probably).
* Alright but the synopsis sort of cracks me up cause talisman of power huh?? wow.
* Once again, Horace, Chloe, and April are the main POVs, with Joshua once in a while. I'm not surprised by this at all, but it would honestly be cooler to view something through the eyes of one of the others - Brian, for example XD That would be hilarious
* Also Brian's puns... stAHP ヽ( ͡ಠ ʖ̯ ͡ಠ)ノ
* HOW THEY SUCH GENIUSES
* My brain was completely blown by some of the wild ideas and theories proposed in this book, especially by Falo while discussing the concept of the multiverse - which fits perfectly into the plot and general idea of this fantasy world. I can only be amazed at how well planned/plotted it was from the start. The idea of the box doing what it does is... O__O
* Okay but the infinite snake though ahaha I've been suddenly seeing it in books everywhere cough
* Isabel no -screeches-
*
ALRIGHT SO ISABEL WAS SUPPOSED TO BE DORVALA, KEEPER OF LOOMDAUGHTER #9 AND YEP STILL SALTY AND THAT EXPLAINS CHLOE XX

* That moment when twelve and thirteen year olds are smarter than you'll ever be
* Still salty over Neptune. In the end she was just a plot point and no.
* Also yep these kids are insanely brave that was wild and I mean the Gallery fight where Horace was trying to get at the astrolabe and there were literally three of them against a good number of Riven /shrug
* RAVANA N O O OO
* Chloe's too brave for her own good sometimes, I swear.
* Somebody pls stop me from shipping literally anything I can
* Idk how to describe the plot, but it was filled with side plots and quests that in the end contributed all together to form this glorious finale
* Also I really DO have a million questions. I think the actual fact that the book is completely centered around Horace & Chloe detracts from it somewhat, leaving me with those questions - mostly curious about the others since the book finishes only with Horace & Chloe. I'm unsatisfied with it because honestly I always tend to care more about secondary characters.
* I S W E A R THIS GROUP OF WARDENS/KEEPERS/WHATEVER HAS GOT TO BE THE GREATEST TEAM I'VE READ OF IN A LONG TIME Their tan'ji work together so well ahahah.
* Arthur
* THE ENDING THE ENDING THE ENDING LSKJF:KADFSDlk ISABEL AND JERICHO AND JESS AND FALO AND HORACE AND CHLOE AND BRIAN O_O
* DAILEN AND MRS. HAPSTEAD NOOO
* 7389 days !!! (may have gotten that wrong but ok)
* THE FORGOTTON BOX AHHH
* Yeah what the heck that was a wild ride

Okay so that was still extremely incoherent, but let's pretend it wasn't.

seriously though I was uncomfortably close to tears. in a barnes & noble. ACK. and it was out of literally all the emotions possible and I was going to write a beautiful & eloquent review but I'm so incoherent I can't ;-;
That was maybe the slowest I've read a book in a long while. The science, WHOA. My brain still doesn't get it, and I'm older than April and Chloe and Horace. GENIUSES ;-;
I still have a heck ton of questions though ;-; *looks at everybody except for Horace & Chloe*
AGH BUT THEY WERE POSSIBLY THE GREATEST CHARACTERS I'VE READ ABOUT IN A REALLY LONG TIME AND THE EPILOGUE AGHHH <333
And therein lies the questions - how did Chloe come back? How??
What happened to literally everybody & everything else? That was a thread that wasn't cleared up. Falo? How long? All the Riven? All the Altari? ALL THE TAN'JI?? ?? NEPTUNE AND GABRIEL AND BRIAN AND APRIL AND JOSHUA? ISABEL AND JESSICA? AND EVEN INGRID? Did they go on to "normal" lives?
How old *is* Meister, really?
HOW DID THE MULTIVERSE THING WORK ASDFGHJKL and that goes back to Chloe's thing... uhm.
Oh, and people died and I WANT TO SCREAM BECAUSE UHH WHAT I CARED FOR ALL THE CHARACTERS and even though they weren't like, the awesome main body of young Wardens I still just, no.
But, whoa. The absolutely amazing words and the science and the characters and literally just how everything random tied into everything else.
The characters.
