I've been stockpiling John le Carré books for years and I'm really trying to make an effort to read them before I buy any more. I like his books but because they're a bit complicated, I always have to psych myself up to start them.
Overall I really enjoyed this one but it wasn't a completely smooth experience. I was immediately invested in the story to begin with, it lost me for about 100 pages in the middle and then luckily I found the last 200 completely gripping. I'm always interested in a Cold War story and I really like le Carré's writing so generally this was a success for me.
