Goddamn. This is comics done right.

At the back of the book, Fiffe has a brief prosr piece explaining his process on this book, and i have to say, its something I really appreciate. That willingness to go all in on the process, to make superhero comics not with a slap-dash attitude, but with a pace that borders on frenetic, a method that allows the strangeness and bombast to show through, not out of weak nostalgia, but rather out of a recognition that that is what the genre requires to truly function properly. The fine line between self-seriousness and preposterous, depressing reality. It's tough to lan successfully, and boy, does Copra nail it. Top notch.

This comic was cool. The art was vibrant and energetic. Between the super heavy linework and the colored pencil work it really stands out from the crowd. I was also really impressed with the composition of the pages. The action is easy to follow. Panel layouts are visually interesting and a little cheeky. I wish more comics were drawn with this kind of abandon. The plot is kind of a standard ensemble revenge story that we've seen before in comics, but it all feels fresh because of the artistic flair. This series is super violent. Definitely an adults only affair. I wouldn't recommend this to everyone, but if you read a fair amount of comics and you're looking for something with a fresh visual style this is a good pick.
