I’ve stuck with this series in the hope that it would improve. This was the first one to give me some optimism.
While I still don’t care for the artistic style, the execution and updating of this tale were far better. It’s also a better Lovecraft story to work with I think. I appreciate the effort to stay away from the Cthulhu tales, which can be overdone. However they’ve picked stories which don’t translate well into visuals medium. This one does, but it highlights why it would have been better to go with a full color illustration rather than black and white.
