For a book with so few words, Alone made me feel so much. This book made me sad, and appreciative of what I have. I'm glad I gave this a chance, and I think everyone should. I still feel like I could cry.

I am new to graphic novels but this is one of the finest and most beautiful stories I have encountered. I would recommend this to anyone. I hope to encounter more stories like this as I delve deeper into this medium.. The art is absolutely wonderful. I’d give it 10 stars if I could.

An incredibly quick read, this humanist graphic novel tugs at your heart strings. Especially in light of the last two years we have all been living. A beautiful novel that tells a story of what being kind to another, especially one considered other, can do.

This is quite a thick book, and seems rather daunting at first. However, this is a book of mainly images. There is some conversation, but not a whole lot, so it goes by quickly.

For 15 years a man has lived alone in the lighthouse. Stranded out away from land. Every week he gets a delivery of food and supplies from a sailor. The man's father paid the sailor to do so before he died. A new hire on the boat becomes concerned for the man in the lighthouse, and leaves him a note. The man realizes how much world there is to see. He begins to wish for and fear leaving his lighthouse.

Emotions are depicted beautifully in the artwork, and the stark black and white used really emphasizes the feelings of loneliness and sadness being expressed in the story. The artwork and the story show the monotony of the man in the lighthouse's daily life. Fishing, eating, and reading his dictionary. The weekly supply deliveries that come every week on the same day. But even in this last piece of his monotonous life, he finds a link to the outside world.

This is a book full of hope. A promise that things will always get better.

Singelo, profundo e tocante.
