And Then Forever is an adorably sweet second chance romance between two characters that couldn't be more deserving of love. I have read one of Shirley's books before (The Sweetheart Bargain), so I somewhat knew what I was in for when I started And Then Forever. Sadly, I have yet to finish the Sweetheart Sisters, but I will go back to finish the last two books in that series while I wait for the next book in the Fortune Island series. Anyhoo, back to my thoughts on And Then Forever. Like I said, I adored this book. The characters were wonderful. Darcy is one tough lady! After the fateful confrontation with Kincaid's father, Darcy held her head high and raised a beautiful little girl. She works hard and has made a life for the both of them. Her world is turned upside down the moment Kincaid struts inside The Love Shack. Kincaid is a warmhearted and so devoted to sister. He is immediately drawn to Darcy from the moment he sees her again and it is like they were never parted. I loved watching them slowly grow closer and closer until the sweet ending.
And Then Forever had everything I look forward to in a second chance romance. Two characters with a young love that pulls them together despite the years they spent apart. I loved the characters, from the two main characters to the background characters that I hope we get to see more from in the future. I loved that we not only get Darcy and Kincaid's perspectives, we're also treated to Abby and Jillian's. I think they'll come into play in the next books in the Fortune Island series. At least, I hope Abby's story will be the third book. The one aspect of And Then Forever that I wish was expanded on was the father-daughter relationship between Kincaid and Emma. I wish we got to see more of them, both before and after Emma found out that he is her father. I would have liked to see more of their transformation. Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed the time I spent reading And Then Forever and I can't wait to read Jillian's story next.

So this was a fairly warm and fuzzy type of story. There's a child and a love that never faded with time. Darcy, despite how protective she comes off as, fairly quickly let down her guard when Kincaid started coming around. I think I would have liked to see her stand up to this guy a little more considering how quickly and easily he left the first time around. That being said, we are faced with Kincaid's undying love for Darcy from the getgo. His devotion to her is almost too much--he really held her up on a very high pedestal! And The Forever zipped through scene after scene a lot quicker than I would have liked. I felt that it was a lot of story but not too much in detail. The final conflict also resolved much too quickly/easily for my liking. Even still, though, it was an enjoyable read, albeit it being lighter than I usually like my romance!

SYNOPSIS
Welcome to Fortune’s Island, where the only rule is to follow your heart. Love is an extravagance Darcy Williams can’t afford. She prefers the simple life, which includes waitressing at The Love Shack and avoiding temptation. But when a forbidden part of her past steps off the ferry, her safe, guarded existence is turned upside down. Kincaid Foster has never gotten over his first love. When he sees the wild, beautiful blonde again, dancing her way around The Love Shack, the memories of Darcy’s soft skin, gentle touch, and heated kisses come rushing back. As the privileged son of a wealthy family, Kincaid was too young to stand up to his overbearing father when he and Darcy were together. Now, he’s back on the island—free of the family shackles—and the chiseled, big-time lawyer wants a second chance. But, Darcy made a promise to keep a secret from Kincaid—a secret that is now a six-year-old girl who looks just like her daddy. If Kincaid finds out about their daughter, Darcy could lose everything. But, she can’t resist the man who stole her heart all those years ago. And it doesn’t take long before both of them realize that anything can happen on a hot summer night.

REVIEW: AND THEN FOREVER BY SHIRLEY JUMP
And Then Forever by Shirley JumpMy rating: 4 of 5 stars
A slow start to what turned out to be a fabulous story. Darcy has always wanted someone to care enough to want to look out for her. It broke my heart that the people she should have been able to rely on let her down. And Then Forever is the story of a woman who is used to looking out for herself but secretly has always wished to matter to someone. This girl was a strong cookie. To be hurt and tossed aside so many times and manage to keep putting one foot in front of the other. That took real faith and courage. Shirley Jump, I salute you for creating a heroine that stayed strong in the face of adversity without needing to be rescued by anyone but herself. So although the hero was nice, I applaud the heroine. Received an ARC of And Then Forever in exchange for an honest review.(www.goodreads.com/review/list/25556913-isha-coleman)

I like how the story between the two characters flow. It showed their past and the ways they grew from the time they were apart. And yet, Darcy would never forget Kincaid as he left behind a permanent reminder; their daughter Emma. The distance made Darcy stronger while Kincaid still struggled to find affirmation from his parents. Going back to Fortune's Island made Kincaid realize who he truly is and what he must do to find acceptance in himself. Meeting Darcy and finding about Emma strengthened his resolve.

I RECEIVED AN ADVANCE COPY OF THIS BOOK FROM THE AUTHOR THROUGH NETGALLEY IN EXCHANGE FOR MY HONEST REVIEW!!
This actually very different from the author's other works that I have read. It has a much more serious feeling to it, which makes it feel more realistic as well. It was shorter than I would have liked, but the story was fully fleshed out and felt complete. The introduction of the couple from the next book didn't overwhelm the plot of this one completely, it actually made a good bit of sense to me to have it in this story.
Kincaid and Darcy are star-crossed lovers that wind up conceiving a child together when they were young. There is a lot of deception that happens in this story, and a lot of mistakes made by Kincaid as well. In the end, they wind up finding their way back to one another. I didn't like the deception angle that much, but it made the story very realistic.
The setting was part quirky, part "I've seen it done before", but it did lend the story character and served to isolate the people on the island into their own small town. It did remind me a little of Marie Force's Gansett Island, but it had its own charm as well.
All in all, this is a book I would pay the money for, and I am very interested to continue the series!

Darcy Williams had her heart broken seven years ago when Kincaid Foster turned away from her and returned to his life of privilege. He's back on Fortune's Island and she's afraid he'll learn her secret. And, Darcy's not sure she can rein in those feelings she thought dead but now realizes were just dormant.
I enjoyed this story, particularly how it was presented. We learn about the foundation of Darcy and Kincaid's relationship through a series of flashback recollections, strategically placed in the context of the present. It was nice to see how the younger versions of the characters handled similar situations. It also helped me understand the depth of their emotions, which made it easier to accept how quickly they came together after he returned. Their relationship was sometimes sweet, sometimes frustrating and often steamy.
I liked the story, especially because both Darcy or Kincaid shared responsibility for the decisions made seven years earlier. I could understand each of their points of view and found myself going back and forth on who was more to blame, who was more sympathetic. The issues were colored in shades of gray, which made it a more interesting read. I'm looking forward to continuing the series.

A perfect summer beach read! A small New England beach town, a second chance at romance, an adorable little girl, and a rescue dog--what more could you need?
And Then Forever is the first in Ms. Jump's new Fortune's Island series, and it's definitely a series I'll be reading more from. I love the setting and the characters we've met so far--our hero and heroine, Kincaid and Darcy, as well as Kincaid's sister Abby, Darcy's family-by-choice Jillian, Whit, Gracie, Carter, and Nona (not to mention Emma and Mooch) are well-drawn and true to life, people you'd definitely want to hang out with on the beach or grab a burger with at the Love Shack.
Altogether this was a great summer vacation read--whether you were at the beach, or just wished you were.
My only complaint with book one is that I would have liked to have seen Kincaid, Darcy, and Emma spend more time together as a family--the book's over almost as soon as they're all really together for the first time with all parties knowing who they are to each other. Hopefully future books in the series will give us plenty of glimpses into their HEA to make up for it :)
