Another great read! I am loving Chief Maggie Riley and Coyote Cove. I was hooked right away. I wanted to know how the people were killed and who did it and there were so many characters and possibilities I didn't know how everything connected and who it could be. It turned out to be nothing like I thought it was going to be. It all wrapped up and made sense and ended not at all like I expected. The paths of characters went in directions I didn't see coming. I can't wait to jump into the next book in the series and find out what crazy story is in store for Chief Riley and Coyote Cove!

Thanks to NetGalley, Bookouture, and Shannon Hollinger for this ARC! These thoughts are my own opinions.

I LOVE Shannon’s books! Chief Maggie Riley is a very relatable character. Her twists are impossible to spot, and she really nailed the crime thriller part in this book. When I have to stop reading a thriller when it gets dark out and switch to a cute rom-com, that’s when I know it’s good!

Their Angel's Cry is my first introduction to author Shannon Hollinger and main protagonist Coyote Cove Chief of Police Maggie Riley.

Who starts her day confronted by a dummy hung outside her office and then it gets progressively worse. When a call alerts her to a possible murder scene at the top of Rattlesnake Mountain.

So Maggie takes off with the aid of Brad a part time guide and pot user. Who agrees to take her to the location not knowing what awaits them.

And it's a shocking scene in an isolated area, half a days hike from civilisation lie three dead bodies and two members of the public. Who claim they just stumbled upon them.

Then Maggie whilst guarding the scene and awaiting the M.E, forensics and state police finds something even more disturbing. A baby; blue and barely breathing. Along with a dog that seems to have rescued the child.

But how is the baby related to the three victims? And why did they all end up dead on top of a mountain?

That's what Maggie is determined to find out. But her task is not an easy one. Thanks to no lieutenant, a lack of support from state police and a storm that has cut off the isolated town.

And with great pacing, plenty of twists and turns. Not to mention a killer, I did not see coming. This was a story I could not stop reading. And I really liked the multiple points of view. Which is not something I'm usually a fan off.

I would happily recommend Their Angel's Cry to all.

My thanks to Bookouture and NetGalley for the opportunity to read an early copy of Their Angel's Cry. 😊

So having read books 1 and 2 of the Chief Maggie Riley series, the more I read of it, the more I like it.  It took a little while for the characters to grow on me.  I wasn’t sure I liked Maggie and Steve at the start of the series, but I am really a fan now.  Both books had a storm threatening to tamper with things.  In book 1, as Maggie is introduced, things are very personal and both Maggie and Steve have secrets that threaten to derail their life in Maine.

There are many POVs in the books, which is a switch for me in the usual detective novels I read.  As I read, I wasn’t sure why the POVs outside of Maggie and Steve were important and only as the story progressed did it become clear why they were.  Both stories are layered and kept me wanting more.  They are fast paced, full of suspense and there were some twists along the way.

Book 3 comes out September 1 and I can’t wait to see where the series is heading.

I listened to book 1 and read book 2 and enjoyed both formats.  Both kept me interested and were easy to follow.

If you want to jump in at the beginning of a new detective series, this one won’t disappoint.

I am so glad I found this series, I love Chief Maggie! I want to be as bad-ass as she is when I grow up! This one had quite a few twists and turns and I loved it! My fave is winning over her future MIL and making her a dog lover! Can't wait to read the next one in the series!
