Three stories intertwining to create a masterpiece highlighting the importance of queer book representation in schools, and the dangers of book banning. David Levithan had me hooked from the first sentence and sighing with hope at the last. I fell in love with the sweet characters, becoming invested in their quirks and lives. A celebration of friendship, and self discovery. A truly beautiful book.

An excellent YA novel depicting young students standing up for one another and behind the importance of allowing all books to be read in school. Also, the chapters are cleverly arranged.

Great middle grade book! This short book deals with a lot of current themes and shows what happens when a community tackles a classroom book challenge. I appreciate that the main characters are 5th grade students, showing how confusing it is for students when adults tell them they shouldn't read something. I loved the focus on queer kids and standing up for what is right. I enjoyed the multiple perspectives but my only complaint is that the chapters from the The Adventurers, the book being challenged, were to slim and scattered so I couldn't get a strong feel for the story or characters. I think students will love it though!

an excellent middle grade read from one of my favorite YA authors. i love the three simultaneous narratives happening throughout the book, as it gives it a really compelling depth that is atypical for this age group. there are not enough middle grade novels that confront themes of censorship and book banning, and this book demonstrates the ways that kids can fight back against this in a positive, hopeful light.

A timely and heartwarming book. It starts with a sentence from the book the protagonist's mother wants to ban. The sentence is out of context, but this parent determined that it was enough for not just her fifth grader, but also his classroom to be too young to read the book.
Answers in the Pages portrays a classroom united, a community divided, and a budding love story between two of the students. It was a delightfully optimistic book and I read it in one sitting.
