This was a fun romantic book! I love the setting of this taking place at a Renaissance faire that both leads take part in! The enemies to lovers was mild but angsty without being toxic! The banter between Simon and Emily had me laughing out loud.

It was very cute, easy read but touched on real emotions. I really liked the story and can’t wait for the second one!! Very funny, loved the commentary.

Romance at the Ren Faire. This one kept me reading into the wee hours. Note: file this one under open door romance.

I had a strange relationship with this book. I felt like I wanted to like it a lot more. Ren Faire (haven't been, but those things sound great)? Awesome. English teacher with a pirate person for said faire? Heck yeah, sign me up. Nerdy book talk banter? I will eat that up. And this book had all that stuff in there, and I did enjoy it.
It just never really felt like it delivered like it could have? I don't know. I'm sure the author has a real love for this stuff. She couldn't write a whole series including the Ren Faire subject without it. The passion just never felt... there? I don't know.
The Ren Faire scenes were fun but felt like they could have had more to them. Simon and Emily were fine, but their relationship kept jumping between extreme hate and extreme attraction without much rhyme or reason. Things would feel inorganic or just odd overall.
It was fine. 2.5 rounded up.

This book so cute and so much fun to read. I have never read anything set at a Renaissance Faire and it was such a fun setting to see a story take place in. It was super interesting watching them prepare for and go through with working and performing at the Faire. The relationship was super cute and I was smiling so much at the ending. I can't imagine what will happen in the sequel but I definitely want to read it.
