This book is KINKY AF, and I loved it. Bad is a college security guard who gets off on ordering Red, a student in the mailroom, to do various and often humiliating things - but Red enjoys it just as much. Personally, I fall into the "wimp" rather than "masochist" category, but it's still fun reading about people who get INTO that kind of thing. It was also fun watching these two guys slowly fall into a relationship when it was just supposed to be about physical pleasure. I'm looking forward to reading the second one!

This has some hardcore f’ed up scenes, with a fair amount of stuff I don’t enjoy seeing a character go through, even if they are okay with it. However, Ripper still pulled me through it and this pair end as a couple.

Eh this one really wasn't my favorite. It had kinks I didn't like (using slut and super rough sex, also the dirty talk didn't work for me). I also wanted Bad to be more emotionally present as a dom. He's pretty distant and demanding. If you're into super alpha guys you'll like them! I think they did get to talk more and Red got to communicate what he wanted eventually so I appreciate that.

Wow. At first, I wasn’t going to rate this one because I genuinely didn’t know how. I went into this with my eyes open and knew the kink would be heavier than in the other books by Kris Ripper I’ve read so far. But I didn’t realize just how uncomfortable it would make me - while at the same time the writing was so good I didn’t want to dnf. My discomfort is entirely on me, as is my completist streak (I love zir books and will read all of them, even if it pushes my limits).
So yeah, this book is full of kinky things I‘ve never encountered in books before, and I don’t consider myself all that sheltered. But the thing is, even though I read it with a metaphorical hand before my eyes, I was impressed by the characters, their interactions, and the way their relationship develops. I doubt I will ever read this again, but I *will* read the sequel, and not just for completions sake. And I settled on four stars in the end because it was really good, even though I didn’t enjoy myself all that much.
As an aside, what I appreciate most about Kris Ripper’s books (apart from Truman and Will and Hugh and Cameron and Josh and Keith and...) is the way ze makes me re-evaluate what relationships can look like. I think zir writing challenges me in the best of ways, and that is why ze has become of my favorite writers.

This book was interesting. I mean I’m not opposed to kink at all and the link was hit. I think it was the dialogue that had me eye rolling a bit. I didn’t like Red at first snd it took me awhile to warm up so it took me a while to finish. He grew on me though. Writing was top notch.
