This book was from the perspective of a twelve year old, one who was confused, so reading it, I also felt very confused, when things started to make sense you also felt confused, who deserves your sympathy, it was quite a jarring read and often features quite violent descriptions and at one point I had to put the book down, very interesting read but definitely not the light-hearted commentary on leaving your childhood behind that I was expecting.
