Taryn is an easily manipulated spoilt brat that falls in love with a sly manipulative “fox” because he showed interest in her. You can clearly see he only uses her for his “stories” and fun. Shes fake by coming up with any excuse she can which doesn't even lead to an apology. And basically demands she accept her apology because they are twin sisters!

This is an excellent companion novella for The Cruel Prince. We are provided with really interesting insight into Taryn's mindset during the events of the original novel, however, I will say there is nothing especially mind blowing or revelatory. Definitely not required reading for the series but a fun add on.

In the mortal world, I'd say: this is what happens when the oppressed ends up trying to please the oppressor, when the patriarchy and internalised misogyny devours you entirely, to the point where you end up destroying your life and damaging your loved ones in the way. 

But, in Faerie, I'll say: fuck Taryn.

In a more bookish tone, this is a nice read, it gives you insight on Taryn's pov and additional information on Vivianne. That's about it.
