I remember reading this, and thinking how good it was, but how long it took me to read it. The ending left me wanting more. I liked the premise, but if it had been a little shorter and to the point, I would have liked it more.

Still, it was a great book.

Un premier tome intéressant, qui se lit vite où on découvre des personnages intéressants, ce n'est pas le livre du siècle, mais il permet de passer un bon moment de lecture !

I loved this book, I found it gripping and exciting. It was interesting to read this dystopian story with the undertones of the 'rusties' which let the world get so broken.

This was the first book ever that I actually put down and NEVER finished. I know I am probably the minority but I didn't like the story and didn't find the charactors the least bit endearing.

2.5 stars. This book was very underwhelming. Tally showed no development whatsoever: even once she had seen the flaws in the way society works, she cannot grasp at all why it is a corrupt system. She was slightly overkill when it came to a protagonist being blind to the issues going on in their dystopian world. Shay was incredibly immature and pathetic, and I actually warmed to very few characters. Most importantly, this book was very boring. It simply failed to capture my interest, and so I struggled to finish it. Full review here --> https://emdoesbookreviews.wordpress.com/2015/02/06/uglies-by-scott-westerfeld/

it’s so 2010 teen dystopian, but the mc for real is so annoying

The plot and idea were wonderful, everything else was just white noise. When the current society revolves around aesthetics so much, it was fascinating to stumble on Uglies. I just didn't connect with anyone. I didn't care for the characters and I just wanted to roll my eyes at Tally and just get the scenes over with. Her web of lies bothered me; but what if I were in her shoes and yada yada, whatever. The story was dragged out a bit, but I really just fell in love with the idea and concept. I don't think I'm in love enough to start on the next book. It was an interesting read.

I tried to like it. I really did. I just... didn't.
