Not as solid tonally as the last volume, but I think there was no real hope of that with this one. It continues the trend of each issue being a teammate with different people. Aquaman, Wonder Woman, Frankenstein, then an issue against Ra's and finally the start up for the Robin Rises arc. While I greatly enjoyed the team up with Arthur Curry, the rest of this volume wasn't all that fun for me.

I really liked the Batfam coming together and everyone being so ready to go to Apokolips to bring Damian back. That was lovely to see. I enjoyed Dick dropping into the cave for a moment and also pledging his help to go bring Damian back. These moments are why I read these books, to be honest. Really, this just made me want to jump to the actual trip to Apokolips which left me happy I'm reading these on DC Universe and I didn't buy them as single issues.

My review from www.scatteredbookshelf.wordpress.com

When I received the ARC of Batman and Robin Volume 6: The Hunt for Robin I could not wait to get home and download the book. After the first couple of pages however I quickly realized that I was not enjoying this book. I can't get into Aquaman, I don't know what it is I've just never been a very big fan. Aquaman just doesn't strike any kind of fear into me and when I read a Batman book I'm looking for a hero that strikes some fear into me and no offense but Aquaman doesn't do it for me. That is until I came across the almost full page panel of beached sperm whales being used by Ra's Al Ghul as a bioengineering lab to try to resurrect his daughter Talia Al Ghul and his grandson Damian Wayne. I'm sure you can see how this doesn't sit well with Batman. The next few pages contain a fight sequence that will stick with me for a while. Ra's pits Batman against mutated clone versions of his son and the artwork in this sequence is brutal and some of the best in the book. Batman is unsuccessful in retrieving Damian's body but there is a moment where Batman and Ra's are looking eye to eye as Batman clings to the outside of a jet that may be my favorite moment of the book. Just the look of anger and desperation in Al Ghul's eyes speaks volumes. Al Ghul is able to shake Batman off of his jet and continue on to Paradise Island in search of a Lazarus pit with the bodies of Damian and Talia. Batman then has to enlist the help of....you guessed it; Wonder Woman.

At this point I'm sure you can see what kind of book this is going to be. This isn't a fight Batman will have to suffer through on his own as he enlists the help of numerous fans throughout the book. There is a moment between Wonder Woman and Batman on Paradise Island where Batman is trying to deal with the supernatural characters that surround him.

Batman's response is the same response I tend to have to the supernatural characters that cross paths with Batman. I have always had a hard time with putting Batman into the same context of Aquaman and Wonder Woman. I really have no logical explanation for this I just enjoy my Batman stories without any of the Justice League involved. The next chapter takes us to Nanda Parbat and a team up with Frankenstein. Batman has tracked Al Ghul using a GPS serum injected into his bloodstream by a dart and enlists the help of Frankenstein (only after an apology for their last meeting) and a group of creatures that are native to the area.

I had high hopes for this book. The idea of Batman chasing Ra's Al Ghul around the globe got me excited for what the book might hold but I seemed to have set my hopes too high. The book fell flat and each chapter relied on the same formula. Ra's searches for Lazarus pit>Batman enlists help of a super friend>Ra's finds Lazarus pit>Batman foils Ra's plans>Ra's slips through Batman's fingers>Batman chases Ra's>Ra's searches for Lazarus pit. You get the idea, and by the time the rest of the Justice League got involved I was just ready for the book to be over.

I'm not sure if it's the book itself or if my tastes in comics are changing. It happens every now and then, characters we've enjoyed in the past just get caught in the same cycle of storylines and you have to say goodbye and move on to the next book on the shelf. If you are a Justice League fan then I'm sure you'll enjoy this book. This is yet another DC title that just wasn't made for me. Maybe with the upcoming re-boot of the DC universe Batman will once again feel fresh but as of now it would seem Batman has jumped the Batshark.

I love how the genre jumps to completely bizarre halfway through.

Batman and Robin has always tugged at the heartstrings, from the story of a kid trying to please his dad and get his head on straight, to a father dealing with loss, and now to this. A father trying to save his son, even if he's passed on. I knew this would happen (thanks to an older brother who's like way ahead of me when it comes to most of the batman comics), but had no clue how it would happen or how it would affect Batman.

I think my favorite scene is when the Bat Family is together again, and the crap that's been going on is addressed. I love the relationships between the members, and how close they really are. Most superheroes are on their own, or have like, 1 person. Batman really has a family he's built, one that's strong enough to survive all the BS he and others have been pulling. One so strong they all came, and they're ready to build anew.

I can't wait to see what will happen, how Batman will save his son from the worst enemy in DC, and how the family's newly strengthened relationship will continue. I absolutely adore Batman, specifically for those relationships, and I love how New 52 is letting them shine (even if the timeline is all kinds of stupid and Marvel is better at the one-liners).

This was really good!

Definitely better than Vol. 5, this kept me very interested in the story.

I hope Batman gets Damian back!
