I have very mixed feelings about much of the Krakoa storyline in the recent X titles. I haven’t followed everything going on there for a while and man, does that make things very confusing every time I try to pick up a related book. This book suffers from a bit of that at the beginning, but it does a good job of setting the stage and moving on to the core story pretty quickly. This volume tells a single story across its issues and it’s a fun story with great art. It struggles a little with helping new readers get to know its wide cast well, but that’s common with team books. With the preliminary info out of the way now, I’m looking forward to the next volume of the Hellions.

Honestly kind of a weird book. Sinister is the highlight in his campy glory. Haven't experienced much of Goblin Queen, so I am not sure if Madeline Pryor is done in justice.

The most broken mutants form into a wrecking crew under Psylocke and Mr. Sinister. It’s a good hook, and I’m interested in some of the mysteries. This first volume was fine. It’s basically the X-Men’s version of Suicide Squad.
A second read after having some more X-Men under my belt means that the Maddie Pryor stuff hits a little harder, but I still don’t know what’s going on with Havok. Probably the least friendly book to new readers.

Definitely the best book out of the 2nd wave DoX books. Fantastic writing, going all-in straight from the beginning.
