It's the history of the settling of the far west. It even mentioned my great-grandparents' ranch.

I am reading this book and I am about 1/2 way through it. It is a fascinating read about the history of how the Far West (California, Nevada, Utah, Colorado, etc.) became part of the United States. It is amazing how much the Mormons contributed to the settling of the interior of the west and how they contributed to the California Gold rush. It is fitting that the Golden Spike of the Transcontinental Railroad was laid in Mormon Territory.
