I definitely prefer the first novella, Stranded in the Satyr’s Garden, over this. But it was a cute love story of a human and merman. I love how unique these monster love stories are, so you have to keep an open mind when reading books like this.

This was a really fun story with interesting world building. I loved their dynamic and watching their relationship develop. I didn't like it quite as much as the first one but still very enjoyable.

This book was everything I love in a monster romance and more.

Our FMC, Allie, has been treated unkindly by her mother all her life and abused by her bf these past few years. She finds herself in a situation in which she almost dies at sea, but she magically appears in a cove where our MMC, Calder, has escaped to. He has run away from the pressure of mer society, because he is expected to breed the females -there's an issue with dwindling number of males. Bu he longs for a heartsmate whom to love and cherish and spend his life with.

My heart felt so much for these too. How they overcome the distrust between species, their misunderstandings and their struggles to make amends, how Allie becomes stronger and Calder more and more caring and open. Also, who doesn't love a virgin MMC who what he lacks in experience he makes up in willingness and desire. Awww, it was so sweet to read.

But of course not everything was easy and they have to overcome even more obstacles not related to their relationship.

This book was like a balm to the soul. It's a perfect monster romance with a good side of smut featuring special physical elements that double the fun *wink wink*. It was super satisfying to read.

I can't wait to read the next!!!

I am grateful to have been gifted an ARC copy of this book from Cia and I absolutely loved it. After reading Stranded in the Satyrs Garden, I knew I would love this one! I love the character development and the affection shared between the two MC’s. I cannot wait for the next book in the Monster Mishaps series! These books are a must read!

I was lucky enough to receive an ARC of Capsized in the Merman's Cove and it was such a sweet read!

Without giving away any of the story, I will say that Calder's Grumpy was adorable against Allie's Sunshine, and I enjoyed watching both of them grow into their strengths. There are references to emotional and physical abuse--not between Calder and Allie--and the trauma from that is something Allie has to overcome throughout the story. Calder also is working through issues surrounding his upbringing (merman are few and far between in his world and are, basically, used as studs), and both of their experiences dictate some of their interactions with each other at the beginning.

Their intimate scenes are cute, but not what I would consider spicy and while Calder does have two penises, double penetration is brief and a singular scene. Which is to say if DP isn't your thing, the book isn't filled with it and you could probably skip that brief scene without losing any context.

Overall, Capsized in the Merman's Cove is a cute, quick monster read and if you enjoyed Stranded in the Satyr's Garden, you'll enjoy reading Calder and Allie's story (and get a glimpse of Jessa Mae's story in the process). However, if you're looking for spice, pick up Cia Petrichor's full-length novel Heart Sworn.

Cia has this incredible way of making fantasy feel realistic, I fall into the story every time. This little novella packs a giant story into less than 200 pages, and did not fail to engage my curiosity for a single second.

The dynamic between the two MCs is navigated in real time, believable and convincing. I enjoyed the dual POV as it gave me insight to Allie's background (ugh) and Calder's grumpy-ass. The characters are relatable and truly, loveable - I adore them both.

The banter is top tier and I found myself immersed in the development of their relationship.

To avoid spoilers, here's what you can expect:
○ Tension
○ Domestic violence healing
○ Healing trauma
○ Fated mates / true love
○ Spice
○ Banter
○ Slowburn
○ Grumpy / sunshine
○ Enemies > friends > lovers

If I ever end up at sea, I'll be looking for the Kraken and a door.

We wanted to be mermaids as girls, as a woman, I want a merman

Can I please ask how a book with less than 200 pages has more world building and character development than a lot of series!?

A short and sweet novella with forced proximity, fated mates, and grumpy/sunshine. The world building around the merfolk was very interesting and really helped draw into the story of these two characters.

I loved the slow development of the story and how there was no rush to the growth of their relationship. The little moments between the main characters are absolutely precious. This is a slow burn with plenty of tension in the build up.
