Solid advice on how to start creating rich characters and chewy conflict. Plenty of lists of "why" questions to get you thinking and writing your way (in 10-min increments) to deeper story people. I especially like the worksheets, new with the second edition.

This book was brilliant, as much for the demonstrations which are included with the techniques, which in holly's own words make this book as close as possible to her 'reading over your shoulder'. You get to see exactly where you can go right and where you can go wrong and holly makes the process often hilarious.

A whole bag full of ideas generated while reading this book. It is awesome for idea generating and deepening your plot by a good character arc. It opened many new ways of thinking which I hadn't thought about before. A must have for writers.
