An exceptional Greek scholar Boethius was alive in the early 6th century. He had influence on both Chaucer and Dante, which is good timing for me because I would like to read The Divine Comedy soon. He was put in jail for a controversy and while in jail he turned to the Greeks for solace. His “nurse” Philosophy comes and they talk in prose and verse and it is very nice to listen to. I enjoyed it immensely and can’t wait to reread this. I imagine that with its short length and depth it makes it wonderful for future rereads and further appreciation. And for those shy of philosophy, this would be a safe 101.
