The main character was annoying...the story felt like it wasn't going anywhere 😕

This book is excellent, a dark ghost story, book 2 in the David Ash series, after 'Haunted' which you don't have to read before this one, but I'd recommend reading it first, it give you more background the the main charactor. for those that have read Haunted, this has the same feel, but darker and on a bigger scale.

I’m sure this is great for some people but I found it a really weak book. I was bored, I wasn’t that interested in picking it up and almost DNF. I swear I loved it as a teen, so this was quite disappointing for me.

The characters all tend to blend into each other, with at least one early lead disappearing for most of the book. Herbert doesn't/didn't write well about love/lust, his scary bits aren't very scary and the surprises were telegraphed long before they happened.

But, and it's a big BUT, Herbert is a great comfort read.
