Some good stories in there, and with his characteristically wonderful writing. I didn't enjoy them as much as his novels, although perhaps that's partially because it's one of his earliest books; it contains the first introduction of Jeeves, although he is a very minor character

The reader does a variety of voices wonderfully.
"Bill the Bloodhound" A low level detective find himself trailing a theater group, differences in perceptions are fun,
"Extricating Young Gussie" First written appearance of Jeeves and Wooster (though only mentioned as Bertie). Jumps right into the domestic opinions and scrapes of Bertie and his relations.
"The Mixer" gives voice to a dog, explaining the way dogs learn and think
"Crowned Heads", "At Geisenheimer's", "Black for Luck" All set in New York.
I liked the description of Katie in "Crowned Heads" to begin with but didn't keep interest for how the story went on. Some of the stories seem to end suddenly and the audio quickly goes on to the next story.
"The Making of Mac's" Londoners, supper restaurant and theater crowd.
"One Touch of Nature" New Yorkers in London
"The Romance of an Ugly Policeman" Amusing tale of downstairs and outside Londoners, especially the policeman's view after a change of environment that he now missed violent Whitechapel compared to his quiet domestic Battersea beat.
"A Sea of Troubles" English professional preparing suicide
"The Man with Two Left Feet" More New Yorkers, domestic, hiding learning to dance. The New Yorker accents start to grate on me.

This is the first published set of short stories from Wodehouse. While not among his classics - that title surely goes to the Jeeves series - this is a great way to get introduced to arguably the funniest, warmest and most delightful author to write in English. Its a Wodehouse story, you forget the story almost immediately after reading it but who reads wodehouse for the plot? The English is delightful as always, the stories hit just the right note of wistful and feelgood and you can pick the book up at any time, but especially if you need a good pick me up.

The stories ranged from mediocre to good. My favorite was probably The Mixer, which was about a dog, told from the dog's point of view.

Short Review: This an early collection of 13 short stories by PG Wodehouse. It was my first introduction to PG Wodehouse. The stories were enjoyable, but nothing earth shattering. My favorite was a first person narrative from the perspective of a dog. But most were ironic little romances. There was an O'Henry feel to most of them. I enjoyed them enough to pick up another, but this was probably not the greatest intro to Wodehouse. (That and I am not really a fan of short stories. So I will be sure to get a full length book next time.)

A rather bland collection of short stories. While it was interesting to read some tales set in America, this batch pales in comparison to even the daffiest Jeeves and Wooster. The bright spot was the story narrated by a dog. Aside from that this is a book to skip.

Alguna de las historias es bastante graciosa. Otras menos. Recordad que esto son los principios de Wodehouse, cuando aún no era ese genio ácido que amamos
