I don't really know what I think of this book. I guess I had expected more thrill. There is too much emphasis on the HAUNTED in the title. While it weakens the actual theme LEGENDS. There comes the disappointment. The stories (re)tell legends which sometimes are about haunting.
After reading first three or four stories I had enough. Didn't I get the stories? Were they too short, too hurried and jerky?
But I finished the book and came across a couple of good ones, My favorites from this book: "That Girl", "Tin Cans", "LaLlorona", "Face Like a Monkey", "For those in Perli of the Sea" and "The Redfield Girls". My most favorite is "Following Double-Face Woman" which ironically is not about a haunting at all.
The least favorite ones I won't mention. Just read it yourselfs and enjoy!

I wanted to like this so much but I feel like it killed my mood for horror short stories. You have amazing writers writing boring, uninspired legends from around the globe? And don't ruin the mood for a horror anthology by overly stating in your foreword "ghosts aren't real". Over and over again! I get it now why are you putting this together? Probably more disappointing than anything. Bored to death...

There are others that are far better, please read Doll Collection over this.

Ghost stories. This was ok, but was not the best anthology I read this years. Some were pretty effective, some I didn't like as well.

I've read all but the Cat Valente story, because for some reason, I bounce off her writing really hard. .
OTOH, Joe Lansdale ALWAYS manages to completely weird me out. Well done, Joe, I guess. :/
