i am imogen, imogen is me. i don’t usually write reviews but i’ve never felt so seen by a coming out story before, and i loved this story so much and i needed to say it. it’s my favourite read so far in 2023, highly recommended to literally anyone.

I loved so much about this book. I connected with the main character’s story - learning about yourself as an adult and having those “oh, that’s why I wanted to be such good friends with her” moments. Also, the discourse (holy buzzword in this book) around queerdom and who is allowed, etc, was phenomenal.

This book fits in a warm, fuzzy space between Heartstopper, Meryl Wilsner’s books, and Casey McQuiston’s books. It’s a solid, engaging, coming-of-age story to which many bi folks will relate (and, for those who are not bi, provides a great window into the tricky things about being bi). It’s the rare YA in which I was borderline upset there was no epilogue. I also would not be upset at all if there were more books in this universe: the supporting cast is delightfully interesting and I would like to spend more time with them.

Definite bonus points for the ADHD rep as well.
