wow I didn't realize how much I missed the TID characters!

I LOVED this! I loved getting a little bit more of Will & Tessa and even Jem. I was curious to see how they we're going to come into play, but it was done perfectly! I don't want to give away spoilers, but it was such an interesting story to see how Shadowhunters have changed mundane history with such iconic events!

The Shadow Hunter Academy seems like it's going to be a really great chronicle, not surprising...

I will say, if you're the type of person who needs to read things in order, that this is definitely not a book you should crack open if you haven't finished TMI, or to two previous e-shorts. There may be spoilers of things that you won't quite get. It didn't bother me, but I know that can drive some people crazy, understandably so.

Really loving this series so far.

Oh Tessa, Will, Jem.... I missed you guys.

James is adorable, Anna is cute, and I really loved this.

Although this one took me a long time to read, because of how busy I have been recently, and because I kept on forgetting about it on my Kindle, I really enjoyed this one. It was so nice to see Tessa and Will again, and to learn about their lives after The Infernal Devices. I thought the Jack the Ripper mystery was reeaaally interesting, and creeped me out a bit, which I loved! I also loved seeing Jace again, and was very satisfied and happy to learn that he finally met Tessa, and learned about Will!!! I wish I read it all in one go, because of how good it was. I definitely will when the bind up edition of all the novellas is released.

How is it possible that after months of reopening the Academy is still a disaster? An academy that is needed so the shadowhunters don't disappear entirely in a few generations. You'd think they'd go above and beyond to make it work. I know it's supposed to be funny, but it just pulls me out of the story.

I'm really getting tired of this universe reclaiming historical figures and legends under the "all the stories are true" shtick.

I actually enjoyed Jace's presence in this installment. I usually feel sympathy and irritation for him in turns, but his unique and aloof way of showing affection for Simon is kinda cute. The seeds were planted in CoFA, although it would have been nice to see how Jace's come to care for Simon from his own perspective. It's nice to know this is where they're at now, but it's like the narrative has skipped a few important steps.

I love the TID gang, and above all I love the bond between Will and Jem and Tessa. I enjoyed reading about them again, but the story about the Jack the Ripper was very underwhelming. If I take away the fact that these characters are dear to me I would have been unimpressed and bored with them.

Sometimes CC has a problem of telling instead of showing, but I think she does a wonderful job with Jem. After the end of TID I was afraid he would disappear into The Silent City and become an afterthought, but he's so present in the story whenever Will and Tessa are involved that it's impossible to miss how much he means to them.

This doesn't happen in all the books, but there's a trend I've noticed lately where the main characters do research and investigate and it goes absolutely nowhere, so all those moments end up becoming filler. In the end, things get resolved because the antagonist goes to them and forces them to react, not because they have followed the clues or concocted a clever plan.

I really enjoyed this one! I got Jace, Will, Jem, Gabriel, Cecily and Tessa all in one story. It was great! I miss TMI and ID so much, so I'm always happy when I get the chance to read about my favorite characters. Thanks Cassandra Clare!

I loved getting to see Tessa and Will and their kids and Cecily and Gabriel! It was so good and I LOVED THE END it gave me Sizzy hope with his letter that he wrote her YAY
