I’m genuinely surprised this book has good reviews. The author seems to lack understanding of what systemic, institutionalized harm is and why it matters. I agree that feminism today is different than it once was, but that doesn’t mean today’s feminism is bad. It just means that different moments in time require different movements. I should’ve stopped reading this book after the introduction. If you gave me this book and took out a few references to the author being “liberal,” I would totally believe Candace Owens wrote it. If you want another white woman’s takes on how scary “cancel culture” is and how to adhere to respectability politics, this is for you. The worst part is she’s just self aware enough to know she’s a white moderate with outdated opinions that is advocating for respectability politics, but she writes off genuine critiques of her mindset as “haters.” I listened to this on 2.65x speed and  rewashing the same plate for 2 and half hours would’ve been a more enlightening use of my time. I usually try to not be mean in my reviews on case the author looks at them but I already know she thinks all critique is “cancel culture” so whatever.
