I’m enamoured.
How would any novel hold up to such a degree of contractility?

"But emphasis is too general a word/

"You know Nahum Tate rewrote King Lear in 1681 and his improvements took the form (besides a happy ending) of reducing occurrences of the word if from 247 to 33."

Unsurprisingly, a brilliant collection from Anne Carson. I love the troubling of genre through this text (evident in the title) as well as the collaborative nature, in conversation with fragments of Keats.

A first pass on an Anne Carson book is just to get acquainted with it. I fully intend on re-reading sometime soon.
