I liked the story, emotional sports romance between a figure skater and a hockey player.

This was full of emotion, and not a light and fluffy romance.
Rhys and Sadie dealing with a lot, and (in the beginning especially) they are understandably not coping in a healthy way. Not to mention, Ollie and Liam about broke my heart.
Be sure to check your CWs, themes include parental abandonment, abuse and neglect by an alcoholic parent, abuse by an authority figure (coach), recovery from physical injury, anxiety/panic disorders - I feel like I could on, but you get the idea.

Emotional hockey books are usually a big win for me. The thing that kept me from loving this is that the timing/pace seemed off at times. The three months between his (very significant) injury and return to play seemed far too fast. The wrap up of things with her skating coach and The Kane Issue seemed rushed at the end. But in the middle the relationship build felt slow.
That said, the epilogue is sweet, taking things from hopeful to happy. A good ending, and what bumps my rating closer to 4.

Shameless if Fiona had less kids to take care off, skated, and made better choices about the men she dated.

No but in all seriousness, I was  very much invested in this book in a way I did not expect to be. Most of the plots in the book wrapped up pretty nicely by the epilogue except for
Rhys’s mom dropping that she was pregnant with another child before Rhys?? We also don’t get any explanation for it or shock from Sadie when this is mentioned and we move past it as of it’s the most normal thing in the world? Did she have this child?? Where is it or what happened to it?? Truly left me speechless with that one.

So so good. Maybe I thought it was so good because I relate to it in some ways, but this book breaks your heart and mends it back together again. Readers will fall in love with Rhys

Perfectly angsty with some spice! This was the warm hug I needed! It follows a figure skater with too much on her plate and a cinnamon roll hockey player trying to heal mentally from an injury. They help each other heal while also having the capacity of being self aware when they are not always going about things in a healthy way. I really enjoyed the acknowledgment of how both the character’s trauma was manifesting and how they were able to overcome it and build a healthy relationship. I also found the side characters interesting. Hopefully we get some books following their story. Not the most action packed book but it was a perfect angsty romance book.

Content Warnings (likely not all): Anxiety, Alcohol Abuse (not by MCs), Abusive Coach.

This book had me in a CHOKEHOLD
I liked the short chapters and switched perspectives between each chapter.
It was hard not to connect with Rhys and Sadie because there was so much to them. Their stories both equally drawing me further and further into the story.
I didn't like how many obstacles it took, I knew it would be a lot but it felt like every page I turned I was happy and then sad and it kept going on and on and it was a little overwhelming.
Overall I really liked this book, but I definitely need a book about Bennett :)
