My least favorite of the books so far. I'm not sure if the format is getting old or if I'm just not as into this author.

The Cahill treasure hunt continues, this time in Russia. While I still enjoyed this fifth volume, Russia isn't really on my radar for folklore and history, and thus I don't think I was able to fully enjoy this book. While the facts retain their quality (general accuracy in the beginning, veering off wildly into National Treasure levels of fiction), the book was just lacking something.

Really. I think it's Nellie, the children's au pair. Nellie has nothing to do with the Cahill mystery, but she functions as sort of the deep wisdom of the book. Something happen to the kids on an emotional level? She's probably going to bring the needed perspective, along with a lot of sass and demands for food. I relate to that. So having her gone this entire book was a disappointment.

Still, the series is good enough for me to keep going. I'm hoping it holds up long enough for me to reach the resolution of the clue hunt.
