“Never say no when you really want to say yes.”

This book was a bit of a mixed bag for me. On one hand it felt really unnecessary and a little boring, on the other it was nice to see some of these characters again, and I liked the messages. I think the ending was my favorite part, as it was a happy and satisfying one, which basically summed up this whole series.

overall a really underwhelming conclusion to the series. i found all the major plot points boring, and most of the dialogue just felt kinda meh. i know the series has always been a bit cringy but it felt less tolerable in this one. i found some of it unrealistic too.

Look, I'm as surprised at the 5 star rating as you are, but this book spoke to me... or rather, 17-year-old me. Just like Lara Jean, I had a boyfriend senior year of high school who was not going to the same college as me. (Also like Lara Jean - I was going to UNC!) Jenny Han perfectly captures that bittersweet feeling of knowing that your life is about to dramatically change, and the people you see daily - friends, boyfriends, even family - are not coming with you. Always and Forever, Lara Jean represents a feeling you just don't see much in YA romances, especially since they tend to focus on the getting-together and not what comes next.

Teenaged Courtney could have really used this book in 2009. My high school boyfriend and I didn't make it at separate schools, but I hope Lara Jean and Peter do.

Re-reading these books for the third time for nostalgia and I just say, this book is my second favorite. I really appreciate how mature this book was in Lara Jean reflecting on herself and her relationship, but mostly on how she wants to look at her future. It had all the same charms if the characters from the other books, and the conflicts made a lot of sense of where Lara Jean is at now and how she’s grown as a character. Makes me tear up! I LOVE these books. They still hit all these years later, and it meant so much to me in middle school to see an Asian character have the love and adventures of every white protagonist I’d read about before <3
