Real talk: the reason I requested this book from the library is that February has been stressful and busy and I'm trying to get a "Book Bingo" every month in my reading planner...and this month I'm resorting to using picture books for many of the prompts (which is still somewhat legit given that I'm a school librarian! Plus, it's not like I'm in a competition with anyone over these bingo prompts--this is just something fun for ME and I didn't want to fail at my goal of scoring one "Book Bingo" a month only TWO months into the year!)

When I think of Mardi Gras, I think of the beads. And that's pretty much it. I didn't think about how kids might participate. I enjoyed the author's note in the back of the book and that she drew on childhood memories to write her story. I think I'd like to find a more recent book to learn a little more someday (this was published quite long ago...and I kinda hate myself a little bit for saying that, since it was published when I was in high school which means I'm OLD).
