This one was a rough one to get through only because it gave all 3 perspectives of the people involved. The husband was a typical idiot, the mistress a conniving young thing and the wife was blindsided as most wives are. This affair never made sense because the husband kept saying all throughout the book how much he loved his wife well if you loved her so much you wouldn’t have poked your stick into another woman in the process devastating your wife and 3 little girls. The characters were believable the story flowed well and made you feel the rawness of the betrayal.

I got 211 pages into this before skipping to the end because despite hating ALL of the main characters and seeing them make stupid choice after stupid choice, I still wanted to know how it turned out. Also, the sex was boring. Ymmv, but for me, it was terrible. I mourn for the better writing I could have been reading.

This is an absolutely terrible book, bereft of sympathetic characters or any semblance of a moral code. I love a bit of good chick lit as much as anyone but the three main characters are all horrible people who I don't give a damn about. The cheating husband is an a-grade misogynistic arsehole, who's terrible in bed and completely lacking in any redeeming qualities or attraction. Huw long-suffering wife, inexplicably named Malinche, which is like calling your son Ephialtes, is such a drip. The side-woman, who sets out to entrap this married man, for no real reason other than she thinks she can, makes me want to punch Her through the book.

For this sort of thing done well check out Louise Bagshawe, or the chocolate lovers club, or really anything else. had I not been trapped on a daylong car ride I would have not finished it, and I really resent the time and brain space it takes up.
